Privacy Policy
In short: This site has no accounts, ads, analytics or cookies, and stores nothing on your device. If you choose to leave a tip, the payment is handled by Stripe.
Who we are
Driftwood Games is an independent developer of free browser games. In this policy, “we” means Driftwood Games. This policy covers this website. Each game is hosted on its own site with its own privacy policy, which applies while you play it.
What we do not collect
There is no sign-up, and there are no ads, analytics or cookies. This site does not store anything in your browser or track what you click. We only receive what you choose to send us: an email (see Ideas and mods below) or a tip (see Tips below).
Services that see basic connection data
Like every website, loading this one means your browser sends standard request information (such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested) to the service that delivers it. Render hosts the site, through its content delivery network provider, Cloudflare, and may keep standard server logs. See the Render privacy policy. The site’s fonts, videos and other files are all served from the same site, so no other company is contacted unless you leave a tip. We do not use this information to identify you.
The site does no cross-site tracking and lets no third party do so, so there is nothing for “Do Not Track” browser signals to turn off.
Ideas and mods
Game ideas and mods are sent to us by email. We receive your email address and whatever you write, such as your idea, or your mod’s link and the name you’d like to be credited by.
We use ideas to decide what to make next, and your email address only to reply to you. We never add you to a mailing list or share either one. We may mention an idea publicly (for example, “a player suggested this”), but never with your name or email. If we feature your mod, we show its link, name and description, and the credit name you gave (or no name if you didn’t give one), never your email. Please don’t include other personal details in the message. Messages are kept in our email for as long as they are useful, and you can ask us to delete yours, or take down a featured mod, at any time.
Tips
Tips are optional and unlock nothing. If you choose to leave one, you are taken to a checkout page run by Stripe, which collects and processes your payment details under the Stripe privacy policy. If you pay with Link, Apple Pay or your bank (such as Bancontact or EPS), that provider also processes your information under its own privacy policy.
Stripe shares details of the payment with us: the amount and date, your email address, the name and billing country or postal code you entered, and limited payment details (for cards, the brand, last four digits, expiry date and issuing country; for other methods, similar identifiers such as a bank name and last four digits). Stripe also shows us fraud-screening signals, such as the approximate location of the IP address used. We never see your full card or account number.
We use these details only to keep records of the tip, handle refunds or questions, prevent fraud, and meet tax and accounting obligations. We do not sell or share your personal information, use it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list. Payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires (generally up to seven years) and then deleted.
Links to other sites
This site links to our games, to players’ mods, to GitHub (for source code) and to Stripe (for tips). Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you visit them.
Children
This site does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Children should ask a parent before emailing us. Tips should only be left by adults or with a parent’s permission. If a child tipped without permission, contact us within 60 days and we will refund it (see the terms).
Your choices
If you emailed us or left a tip, you can ask what information we hold about it, or ask us to correct or delete it (apart from records tax law requires us to keep). See Contact below.
If you are in the EU or UK: connection data is processed for our legitimate interest in delivering the site, ideas and mods are processed for our legitimate interest in reading and replying to what you send (you can ask us to delete yours at any time), and tip records are processed to complete your payment and meet legal obligations. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Our service providers may process data in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update it on this page and change the effective date above.
